Angela Ho - SynNovator

As a relatively new SynNovator, Angela has been exposed to SynNovation for several years as she worked with co-founder Lu-Marie Sobey on various projects.  Her wide range of business experience and as a facilitator makes her an asset in our team.

The major part of Angie’s career was with The Coca-Cola Company.  While studying toward a BCom through UNISA, she started there as a temporary human resources administrator.  Ten years later, her experience at Coca-Cola included roles from Key Account Management (Sales), to Supply Chain Management (Route-to-market strategies) and Public Affairs and Communications (Corporate Social Investment). Her exposure to various facets of business has allowed me to appreciate the value of clear and consistent communication from executive boardrooms to truck drivers.  She has experienced how the way in which one relates a concept or idea, motivates an action plan, and creates a team either ensures collaborative performance and achievement - or can easily cause great strategies to lose their effectiveness, or even fall by the wayside.

Her operational experience in Africa includes Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.  As part of a team of four subject matter experts, she project managed value chain optimization programmes from manufacturing to in-trade marketing and execution. Her key role was to transfer knowledge to local emerging market operators.  This included developing local market assessment and internal process assessments, developing or adapting of software tools and methodologies for distribution and warehousing, identifying and coordinating local training needs, facilitating joint management and operations strategy building workshops, and monitoring implementation plans in the marketplace.  She particularly enjoyed the opportunity this gave for capturing best practice learnings and building ‘Africa Proud’ success stories to share globally in similar emerging markets.

Her last three years at Coca-Cola focused on building an employee compliance programme for Bottling Partners and The Coca-Cola Company for HIV/AIDS, as Community Affairs Manager representing The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation in Southern Africa.  Her key role was to develop relationships with non-governmental organizations (UNAIDS, PEPFAR, WHO and Hope Worldwide); suppliers (Government agencies and the healthcare sector (GSK and PSI); and partnering with industries through the likes of the South African and the Global Business Coalition Against HIV/AIDS was a breakthrough in building good corporate citizenship both locally and internationally.

Angela holds a BCom in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of South Africa (2006); HIV/AIDS Counseling Certification (UNISA, 2004); a Diploma in Project Management (Damelin College: 2001); and Performing Arts qualifications in Harp and Piano (UNISA, 1993).

Angie matriculated at The Johannesburg School of Arts majoring in music. A highlight in her musical career was performing harp for the dignitaries at the Inauguration of South Africa’s former President, Nelson Mandela.  A recent career break, as a mother to three daughters, has enriched her view of life and her personal value system of perseverance, respect, humility, integrity and, more recently, humour.
